Q/ DOES MY BOILER OR HEATING SYSTEM NEED POWERFLUSHING?

A/ Radiators not heating, cold spots on radiators, a noisy boiler or black water in your heating system are indicators that your heating system would benefit from powerflushing.

OVER TIME, INTERNAL CORROSION OF YOUR RADIATORS OR BOILER FORMS A BLACK SLUDGE WHICH PREVENTS WATER FLOWING THROUGH YOUR SYSTEM PROPERLY,WITH A RESULTANT POORLY PERFORMING AND INEFFICIENT HEATING SYSTEM.

Should you have any concerns about your heating system, we would be glad to advise, free of charge

Q/ I HAVE A MAINTENANCE CONTRACT WITH A COMPANY WHO HAVE ADVISED MY SYSTEM NEEDS POWERFLUSHING-AND THAT IT IS ONLY THEY WHO CAN CARRY OUT THIS WORK – IS THIS TRUE ?

A/ No!  We have found in some instances that companies are misguiding customers into accepting inflated quotes for this work, by advising that only they can carry out this work. This is not true.

We use the latest, and in our opinion, the best powerflushing equipment available, and our work is carried out to meet (or exceed) the requirements of B.S. 7593 which is the industry recognised code of practice for cleaning and inhibiting central heating systems.

You will receive a certificate of compliance with B.S. 7593, the chemicals used to clean and inhibit your heating system, and water quality (TDS) on completion of the work.

Q/ I’M THINKING ABOUT GETTING A NEW BOILER – DO I NEED MY RADIATORS AND PIPEWORK RENEWED ?

A/ If your radiators or system are over 15  years old then we would recommend complete renewal, especially if the system exhibits signs of internal corrosion.

However, it is possible to replace the boiler without the additional expense and upheaval of renewing radiators and pipework, if the existing system is thoroughly cleaned by powerflushing.

VIRTUALLY ALL BOILER MANUFACTURERS‘ GUARANTEES ARE INVALIDATED SHOULD IT BE FOUND THAT THE BOILER FAILURE WAS FOUND TO BE AS A RESULT OF FAILURE TO PROPERLY CLEAN AND INHIBIT THE HEATING SYSTEM.

MOST BOILER MANUFACTURERS OPERATE THE “BENCHMARK SCHEME” WHERE PROVISION IS MADE WITHIN THE BOILER LITERATURE FOR RECORDING CLEANSING AND INHIBITING CHEMICALS USED AND SERVICING RECORDS, WHICH UNLESS FULLY COMPLETED MAY AGAIN INVALIDATE MANUFACTURERS’ WARRANTIES.

We would recommend that if your existing boiler is still working then powerflushing is carried out prior to the new boiler installation, thus preventing dirty water running through your new boiler with potentially serious detrimental effects.

Q/ CAN I JUST GET ONE OR TWO RADIATORS POWERFLUSHED ?

A/ Yes – but this is inadvisable. One or two radiators not working due to sludging suggests that the whole system needs flushing, so that radiators cleaned do not clog up again from “dirt” from other parts of the system or boiler.

Q/ CAN ALL HEATING SYSTEMS BE POWERFLUSHED ?

A/ Most heating systems can be powerflushed, although there are a few exceptions. We would conduct an initial survey of your system to ensure compatibility and advice, free of charge.

Q/ HOW LONG DOES THE POWERFLUSHING PROCESS TAKE ?

A/ Normally a complete system, boiler and radiators can be cleaned in one day

Q/ DOES MY BOILER OR RADIATORS HAVE TO BE REMOVED ?

A/ No. The powerflushing process pumps water and chemicals at high velocity through your boiler and heating system when they are in place, normally by connecting equipment to pipework at your heating pump. The pump is generally the only part of the system which requires removal and re-instatement.

Q/ HOW MUCH DOES IT COST ?

A/ Boiler and system up to eight radiators                                               £340

Plus an additional £40 per radiator over eight

Q/ DO YOU INSTALL BOILERS AND RADIATORS ?

A/ Yes. We are a small family run Gas Safe registered plumbing and heating business who carry out plumbing and heating installations, breakdown repairs and servicing, as well as powerflushing .
